Session Overview: In this talk, I will briefly review past prescription rationales, and focus on present prescription strategies, such as NAL-NL1 and NAL-NL2. I will demonstrate how different prescriptions modify the audio signal and how listeners with different degrees and configurations of impairment may benefit from these advances. I will discuss the limitation of current prescriptions in relation to opportunities arising from recent technological advances in hearing aid designs, including the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). We will then talk about future trends in hearing device technologies and discuss how newer technologies, emerging markets, and new population targets may redefine prescription rationales for hearing aids in the future.
