As part of demonstrating their ongoing competence to practice, all Audiology Australia Accredited Audiologists must practice at least 200 hours each year or an average of 1,000 hours over the past five years. This is known as the Recency of Practice requirement.
All Audiology Australia Accredited Audiologists are required to declare that they have met the Recency of Practice requirement at membership renewal each year. A practitioner can maintain their certification as an Audiology Australia Accredited Audiologist for up to two years even if they cannot meet the Recency of Practice requirement. This may be for reasons such as parental leave or personal hardship.
However, a practitioner who cannot meet the Recency of Practice requirement for three or more years will be required to meet the Resumption of Practice requirements in order to maintain or renew their certification as an Audiology Australia Accredited Audiologist.
